Title Armed Security Officer

Description Position Summary: Responsible for security operations during assigned shift. Maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the school buildings, residences and grounds. Provide friendly, helpful and supportive service for guests, visitors and employees of Unity.


Essential Job Functions:
1. Provide information, assistance and/or aid as required for guests, visitors and employees.
2. Respond to security, fire or maintenance alarms, follow-up with appropriate personnel contact and make written reports.
3. Provide vehicular or foot patrols of building complex, grounds, lakes and wildlife areas as assigned.
4. Maintain strict confidentiality of all reports and security related matters.
5. Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. – this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
6. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
7. Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request.

Non-Essential Job Functions:
1. Prepare clear and concise reports from factual information obtained during assigned shift, as required.
2. Monitor vehicular traffic; apply traffic/parking regulations and director traffic as needed.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience:
1. Able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays, to meet business operation needs
2. Twenty-one years of age.
3. Two years current administrative office experience in the security field, armed experience. Or, recent law Enforcement, military police or campus police experience.
4. Experience in security dispatching, radio equipment and knowledge of security monitoring equipment consistent with a security communication center.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to effective interact with employees, guests, and visitors to the campus.
6. Demonstrate reasoning, negotiation, and active listening skills.
7. Former experience responding quickly and calmly to emergency situations.

Computer Skills: Minimum basic end user PC knowledge and keyboarding skills.

Certificates & Licenses: If driving Unity vehicles must have valid driver’s license and/or if driving personal vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and minimum liability insurance.

Other Requirements: Carry and qualify with handgun twice yearly for NRA standards. Successfully complete criminal and DMV background check. Able to work all shifts, weekends and possibly holidays.
