Description • Plans operations, establishes priorities and sequences for shift activities including but not limited to assigning priority to Controls departmental work orders and projects and assigning project champions within the Controls department.

• Publish a weekly work schedule for Controls Departmental shift work.

• Provide feedback to Maintenance regarding Controls departmental obstacles for success.

• Troubleshoots plant controls systems. Looks for ways to reduce frequency of system trips or malfunctions by implementing appropriate PdM or PM programs.

• Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards.

• Participate in incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate.

• Assists Team Leaders and other plant personnel in coordinating and directing work activities of Electricians and Controls Technicians

• Assist in the establishment of an effective predictive maintenance program for DCS/PLCS/VFDS and thereafter, update and implement program for maximum effectiveness.

• Works with other plant personnel or contractors to develop project estimates, work scopes or cost estimates
• Acts as System Sponsor for plant systems that require technical skills and expertise.
• Covers maintenance weekend on-call rotation as required. Responds to emergency calls after hours as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Manufacturing software.
• Technical Skills: Ability to solve high order Instrument, Electrical and Control problems through logical troubleshooting, research and experience. Experience with Digital Distributed Control Systems, PLCs and Electronics.
