The VP of Operations of the East Coast Region is responsible for overseeing regional multi-unit fresh food manufacturing operations to best in class standards.  Works with a highly passionate group of leaders who look   to you for guidance, directives, and best practices in continuous improvement and lean operations that produce fresh food products and family meal kits. Responsible for the execution, and control of integrated, fully leveraged set of operational activities processes that deliver fresh food products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Ensure maximum efficiency and compliance that meets the highest standards of legislative, company standards, and specifications.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Strategically plan, organize, and oversee food production and service to our customers and community partners.  Analyzes KPI data related to daily production routines, priorities, labor costs, productivity, quality and safety. 
  • Supports a customer centric culture across Operations that focuses on quality and food safety adherence as defined by Company Quality Systems.
  • Responsible for operational budgets, variance results and improvements.
  • Ensures facilities operate at maximum efficiency. Understands KPI's, department targets, and the root cause of poor performance and financial failures. Implement corrective actions to drive results.
  • Ensure tactical execution of Operational Strategy and CAPEX Plan. Manage and execute all capital and operating plans to ensure they are on time and on-budget.
  • Promote employee development, management, coaching and discipline in the work place. Maintains a focus on skill sets, safety and food safety with full compliance of regulatory and legislative agencies to include FDA, USDA, and OSHA.
  • Maximized the synergies across operations by leveraging the platform network (apple core) and other resources to identify, define and deploy best practices.
  • Bring the company values and management principles alive within the operations. Drives a culture across Operations that fully values individual safety.
  • Partner with Sales team and Customer Experience team to deliver excellent customer service and client retention. Collaborates with the Customer experience team to deliver excellent customer service and client retention.

  • Ensures proper transition and launch of new products from Product Development. Ensure teams execute PD recipes into SOPs, procedures, setting up what good looks like and training guides for staff.
  • Delivers product and services in line with agreed performance measures and product mix (complexity) for product quality, cost to manufacture, order fulfilment (i.e. flexibility, responsiveness, lead time).
  • Ensure efficient delivery, receipt and supply of ingredients and materials availability to respond to orders, including packaging, delivery of food products, meals, drinks and equipment.
  • Plans for sales growth within each facility, and for new production locations within the region as the business expands.
  • Actively coach, train and develop team to build confidence, implement process control methods, continuous improvement, lean manufactring principles, and deliver KPI results. Eliminates barriers to support positive results.
  • Influences team to get the job done. Develops team members to understand processes, methods, controls and systems. Builds trust & respect. Diffuses conflict.
  • May complete a variety of routine office tasks that may include typing, preparing reports, completing research, track information and KPI’s, prepare or update excel spread sheets, copying, scanning, etc.

 

Requirements

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 3+years of progressively responsible experience actively managing multi-unit food manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, and/or production environments. Chilled fresh food VP or Director level experience is required.
  • Experience working in a start-up chilled food Production operation and implementing processes
  • Advanced education or related degree in food science, culinary arts, food safety or management is preferred.
  • Food Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution Experience with overall control, execution, budgeting, forecasting production volumes, productivity, Capex, Service Levels, Cost of Manufacturing and OEE.
  • Project management experience in a continuous improvement environment is required.
  • Certification and training in HACCP, SQF, Food Handling/ ServSafe, Culinary arts, CCP’s helpful.
  • Seasoned experience using Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis on outlook and excel.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time within the regional market of responsibility.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to ensure efficient work completion when necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and problem-solve, while working under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Able to accomplish the work and meet targets thru others.
  • Ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to determine root cause findings, take corrective actions, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often in a cold/ damp environment.
