Home Office Catering Cook

This position is a part of the fabric of the Revolution Foods Home Office Team.  We are a food company and every day, we are working with and enjoying great food as we strive to serve our customers (kids!) better and better meals either at school or at the grocery store.  We are looking for someone to join our home office team in Oakland as our head of all things food hospitality.  This support position is integral in keeping the wheels on as it relates to our corporate staff meal and other culinary and hospitality related tasks around our home office.

You are right for us if you run hard and fast and “work clean” every step of the way. 

You are right for us if your favorite chef’s tool is a tasting spoon (and a sharp knife).

Requirements

This position will focus on the following areas:

  • Execute Home Office daily lunch including managing the requisition of ingredients
  • Manage all hospitality areas for the Home Office related to food and beverage for the staff (conference rooms, kitchen, staff meal, special events)
  • Assist the Executive Chef in benchtop recipe work, prototyping, and trend research in support of our K-12 and retail business streams.
  • Manage the food and logistics for VIP caterings, brand building meetings and events as directed by the Exec Chef. 
  • Manage inventory for product development teams.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the R&D kitchen
  • Occasionally teach culinary classes to young people using our Mobile Kitchen Classroom.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute excellent flavors, textures and visual appeal on all food projects with an attention to detail on all points of quality, cost and waste management.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish a culture of respect, hard work and consistency with Revolution Foods employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute high quality culinary events, caterings and tastings that represent the Revolution Foods quality standards.

 

Requirements

  • 3 years’ scratch cook kitchen experience.
  • Must be open to sampling and familiar cooking a variety of food items (ie meat, fish, whole grains)
  • The ability to follow recipes and the ability to apply natural good food logic and technique to create outstanding food.
  • Strong command of basis cooking skills like sauté, roasting, braising, toasting, blanching, etc.
  • Maintain excellent food quality and cost saving standards in all work.
  • You understand what is mean when we say “work clean.”
  • You are obsessed with tasting…every step of the way through composing a dish.
  • Strong culinary instincts to ensure food quality and presentation in all areas of the job.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing, reflective of the Revolution Foods Core Values.
  • Ability to use personal car for running to the grocery store, post office or Target (mileage reimbursed).
  • Ability to work in Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Serve Safe Certified a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Interview will include a cooking exercise.
