Revolution Foods has a unique business model with a presence in schools and in consumer packaged goods (CPG). CPG complements our focus on school meals by providing in-home meal solutions for busy families. The CPG business is fast-growing and includes a broad portfolio of products to help busy families make healthy choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We currently have products spanning multiple categories, including frozen (breakfast), refrigerated/grab and go (lunch) and grocery (dinner) and are actively expanding our product line offerings. These healthy family foods are in over 3,000 grocery stores across the nation including Target and Safeway stores.

Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and creative leader with expertise in the innovation pipeline, including front-end product ideation, development, and commercialization. The Innovation & Commercialization Director is responsible for leading and directing the development and implementation of the CPG product portfolio including disruptive category innovation, product improvements and line extensions as well as packaging innovation. This role will establish a pathway to identify and source unique product concepts by scouting, cultivating and developing partnerships with new suppliers and manufacturing partners. The Innovation & Commercialization Director will partner with all internal stakeholders to develop & align on innovation strategies and create a pipeline of innovation. In addition, this role will be responsible for the commercialization and project management of all innovation initiatives including technical requirements.

Responsibilites:

  • Directs the development and implementation of CPG business product innovation to produce a competitive advantage in the marketplace and deliver on new product revenue goals
  • Proactively research, monitor and assess new trends and vendors
  • Scout new and unique products, vendors and potential partners - assess their capabilities and potential fit
  • Partner with VP of Marketing to develop innovation pipeline calendar, identify key launch windows and translate business and brand strategy into innovation
  • Partner with internal cross functional team to identify key business opportunities, identify pain points and coordinate launch of new innovations
  • Lead and manage all innovation projects through stage gate process
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the supply chain, marketing and sales teams
  • Cultivate and nurture a culture of innovation within CPG team through innovation brainstorm sessions, idea hackathons, etc.
  • Implement KPI’s and help build relevant tools with NPDI (New product development and Innovation) and product roadmap.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of innovation, commercialization & project management experience in food industry, start-up preferred
  • Experience in leading all technical components of product commercialization
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Revolution Foods.
  • Strong communication skills, and excellent at building successful relationships
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and deliver against multiple, concurrent programs
  • Self-motivated, flexible & driven with a desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-channel department
  • Expert problem solver and can easily adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to work well with others within a team environment, and to support teams with a can-do attitude. Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
  • Broad food product knowledge across a wide range of areas. Strong demonstrated understanding of innovative market space.
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 50% of time) when necessary
  • 4 year Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in working on Non GMO and Organic products a plus.
