Harbor is seeking a Clinical Trainer for our Social Work student intern and externships. The Clinical Trainer will oversee clinical and administrative aspects of, external student interns, provides clinical supervision of staff pursuing various levels of licensing, and provides direct clinical services.  Position is full time and requires working one evening per week until close.

Job Duties:

  • Exhibits leadership and team-building skills to promote a Patient-Accountable culture among staff and across the agency . Demonstrates and expects a cooperative atmosphere which leads to acceptable/expected level of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of team members and excellent client care.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of Trauma Informed care and work with other managers to establish and maintain a trauma informed care environment for clients and staff.
  • Must have participated in training on the T.R.U.S.T.E.D. culture and demonstrate ability to utilize this model in the provision of client services and in program development.
  • Coordinates, evaluates, and supervises all operations for assigned clinical student interns utilizing an evidenced based model of supervision.
  • Ability to train students, supervisee’s and others in evidenced based models of brief therapy such as solution focused and motivational interviewing.
  • Works in coordination with Clinical Managers-to assure that all full time staff caseloads are full prior to student intern assignment  -
  • Responsible for providing clinical supervision for staff working towards professional licensure. Works in collaboration with the licensee’s assigned Clinical Manager to address clinical supervision needs and performance.
  • Responsible for the  innovation, development, and implementation of student placement services with colleges/universities(program development).
  • Pursues and actively maintains a working relationship with colleges/universities.
  • Responsible for signing off on diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and termination forms and other documents completed by student interns and licensees under clinical supervision.
  • Maintains clinical responsibility for the counseling of clients assigned to student interns and self.
  • Maintains client records and completes all documentation on a “real-time” basis.  Assures that all clinical files of the student interns and self meet all certification and accreditation requirements. Assists with preparing student interns  for accreditation, licensure, certification and audits.
  • Types clinical documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor and submits within timelines set by Harbor.
  • Provides direct services as budgeted. In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
  • Provides effective and efficient management of caseload.  The number of open inactive cases must not exceed 10% of the total caseload.
  • Participates in peer consultations, staff meetings, serves on committees as appointed, and is actively involved in continuing education and professional organizations as appropriate.
  • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth.


  • Candidate will have a Master’s degree in a mental health field from an accredited college or university and be licensed independently to practice in Ohio with required needed license identified
  • Candidates must have supervision endorsement (LISW-S) and a minimum of 3 years clinical supervision experience.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and be deemed insurable through Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required.
  • Prefer diverse experience  in therapy and populations.
  • Must be able to use computer and software to manage and monitor program and to communicate with staff.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have the computer skills to troubleshoot EHR clinical documents applications.
  •  Must also be honest dependable, self-disciplined, organized and be able to work well as a team member.
