Harbor is currently seeking Job Coaches to provide vocational rehabilitation services as well as job coaching services to Lucas County Job and Family Services referrals. This position would be contingent - less than 20 hours per week. 

Job Duties:


  • Responsible for the quality and completeness of the clinical record.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely documentation which includes, but is not limited to: Progress Notes, sheets, ROAR’s, Monthly Participant Evaluations, Corrective Action Plans, iWAM alerts, Incident Report forms and any other forms necessary to document coaching services.
  • Types documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
  • Provides Job Seeking Skills Training (JSST), job coaching and job development activities for Lucas County Job and Family Services referrals.
  • Evaluates WEP site for appropriateness for participant placement (e.g., safety, supervision availability, enough work to keep participants busy, etc.).
  • Ongoing evaluation of WEP site to ensure that business is continuing to meet its responsibility and program requirements as participating WEP site.
  • Analyzes jobs and work environments at WEP sites and worksites and breaks down jobs into trainable steps.
  • Evaluates worksite/employee job match and may complete worksite job analysis.
  • Assesses client “readiness for employment and formulates appropriate interventions to assist the client in making progress towards setting and achieving their recovery goals.
  • Assists the client in identifying his/her interests, skills, and aptitudes to assist in exploring possible vocational choices.
  • Assists the client in gaining information on the effects of employment on entitlements / financial assistance that the client may be receiving (i.e., SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Food Stamps) to assist the client in making an informed choice.
  • Provides individual and/or group job coaching at WEP or work site.
  • Assists the client in developing employment opportunities as well as the skills to choose, get, and keep jobs.
  • Makes home visits/outreach to engage clients in vocational services
  • Refers client when appropriate for vocational services and community programs
  • Provides support, education (i.e., benefits counseling, advantages of employment) and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others.
  • Actively develops employment opportunities and assists clients in learning job skills as needed, individually or in groups.
  • Performs community outreach for the purpose of client engagement, and necessary support services.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring assistance as needed for the purpose of maintaining and retaining employment.
  • Provides support to participants to assist them in problem solving and managing barriers to client participation (e.g., linking with childcare resources, health care resources, etc.).
  • Assists the client and family in increasing social support skills and networks.
  • Coordinates evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers.
  • Monitors all services identified in the IEP, BESI and DSI.
  • Provides assistance in gaining access to essential community resources and linking with appropriate vocational resources (BVR, ODJFS, BWC, etc.).
  • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work or closely related behavioral/mental field from an accredited college or university, plus 1 year vocational rehabilitation experience required; or an Associates’ degree plus 2 years teaching/training or  vocational rehabilitation experience; or, in lieu of previous requirement, 5 years’ experience providing vocational rehabilitation services (i.e. job development, job coaching) to BVR, ODJFS funding sources.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and be deemed insurable through Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
