Eye Care for Animals is seeking a Part-Time Fill in Veterinary Technician to join our team based in Annapolis (Defense Hwy), MD. Travel between our other MD practices (Annapolis Bestgate Road, Columbia and Rockville) will be required as needed.  Current practice hours are Monday -Friday 8am-5pm.

Other qualifications include: • Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required • Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM and SQ injections • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment • Team player • Eager to learn and is self-motivated • Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to multi-task with a smile We offer competitive pay and Potential Quarterly Bonuses • Uniforms provided or reimbursement available

JOB SUMMARY The Veterinary Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. Tasks include animal handling, pre and post-operative patient care, creating and presenting financial options and estimates, accurately entering service charges into client processing database, and preparing medications. Hours typically vary and include after-hours and on-call responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Required: Previous veterinary office experience • Preferred: High School graduate or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Proficient with various veterinary software • Proficient operation of various office equipment (copier, scanner, fax machine) • Basic filing skills • Effectively manage multi-line phone system • Effective interpersonal communication skills • Effective in multi-tasking (prioritizing and accomplishing tasks) • Effectively handle stressful situations • Maintain a positive work environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work collectively with team members • Emphasize teamwork

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Ability to maintain professional and courteous demeanor in challenging/stressful situations • Prepare and maintain exam, treatment and surgical rooms • Greet clients and patients • Obtain patient history and updates from clients • Perform and/or assist with diagnostic procedures • Maintain accurate patient medical records • Enter service fees into the patient processing database • Calculate medication dosages and prepare instructions for clients • Review patient instructions with clients and distribute educational materials • Create and review treatment estimates and payment options with clients • Clerical duties such as filing, copying, and faxing • Maintain order to public areas (waiting room, exam rooms, kennel area, etc.) • Place catheters and assist with surgical equipment monitoring (anesthesia, ventilator, etc.) • Provide general aspects of after-hours and on-call service • Available to work in other ECFA markets if needed • Other duties as assigned Eye Care for Animals is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
