CIEE operates sixty study centers in over forty countries that support study abroad programs for over 7,000 students annually. In addition, as the largest sponsor for U.S. Department of State J - 1 Visa programs, CIEE helps nearly 25,000 international students participate in U.S. based exchange programs annually. CIEE programs and services span study abroad, teach abroad, international faculty development seminars, and inbound exchange study, work, and internship programs for today’s high school and university students, professionals, and educators.

The CIEE Entrepreneur Lab, called ELab, is a newly developed entrepreneurship curriculum combined with experiential learning opportunities in a pre-professional context. The CIEE ELab will be an innovation space for recent university graduates from around the world who seek the opportunity to gain hands-on experience as entrepreneurs, in a supportive, collaborative and goal-focused environment. This certificate program that provides the business fundamentals necessary to succeed at any entrepreneurial venture, is a six- to twelve-week program including seminars and workshops, company visits, individualized mentoring, networking events, a dedicated desk and use of CIEE facilities. In the beginning, there will be two locations for the ELab: Berlin and London, both to be launched in January 2019.

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the ELab Director, the Sales Manager ELab has worldwide responsibility for the successful planning, implementation and ongoing operations of the sales measures for the innovative new venture, the ELab. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering an enrollment platform and for managing international customer contacts, application and bookings. The Sales Manager initiates and drives worldwide sales measures, including management of the worldwide sales agents, to ensure the annual targeted number of participants. This is initially a three-year venture, with the possibility of continuation and roll out, including expansion of the sales team- if the venture meets its significant targets during the three-year span. The Sales Manager would supervise the sales managers to come and potentially will grow into the role of a Senior Sales Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the implementation and management of a worldwide enrollment and booking platform, preferably a customization of an existing CIEE platform
  • Contributes to the sales plan, fining tuning and executing globally
  • Actively seeks and executes new sales opportunities for the ELab (e.g. Study Abroad conferences, Work & Travel industry network, Entrepreneurship education summits)
  • Works with ELab Director and CIEE Marketing to combine efforts aiming to raise awareness and to establish the profile of the ELab in the world of postgraduate training programs as well as in the startup community
  • Manages social media channels of the ELab and ensures constant content delivery to CIEE’s and third party social media channels
  • Coordinates global sales outreach via CIEE’s sales net and supervises worldwide net of sales agents, promoting the ELab programs
  • Reaches out to language schools in Berlin and London in order to combine offers
  • Ensures all enquiries are responded within 24 hours and booking requests are actively managed from enquiry to application, booking, billing, payment processing, and post-program customer evaluation and satisfaction feedback
  • Regularly conducts assessments of the success of sales measures and generates reports to the ELab Director that summarize bookings and satisfaction, suggests adjustments and opportunities for growth
  • Works closely with all sales related CIEE teams (Alumni, Digital, Customer Service, Work Exchange,..) to ensure smooth operations and optimization of the ELab sales efforts
  • Supports ELab Director with selecting suitable candidates for future sales manager positions and manages the sales team as direct reports
  • Other duties as requested

General Qualifications:

  • At least four years’ sales experience
  • Experience in implementation and management of enrollment/ booking platforms
  • Demonstrated record of creating and executing sales plans for new programs or similar
  • Experience in online marketing preferred
  • Minimum education level: Degree or equivalent
  • Superior analytical, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
  • Near native communicative competence English
  • Commitment to confidentiality and demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in sensitive areas
  • Valid work authorization for either USA, United Kingdom or Germany
