Description The American Library Association’s Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services (ODLOS) is seeking a full-time Program Officer. We are looking for a curious, tech-savvy outreach and communications leader to join our team at our Chicago, IL headquarters.

Reporting to the Director of the Office, the successful candidate will have these main areas of responsibility:

• To manage the development of resources, programming, or tools in support of library staff and stakeholders’ efforts to address services to support traditionally underrepresented populations with ALA member leaders.

• Lead the communication efforts of ODLOS in developing and maintaining relationships with members, ALA units, and affiliates of the association.

• To coordinate and monitor communications for the ODLOS and its various programs including the Literacy Clearinghouse, E-Learning Initiatives, and Spectrum Scholarship Program.

• Support the affiliate groups Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS) and the Association of Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL) and the ALA Committee on Rural, Native, and Tribal Libraries of All Kinds in providing the information and logistical infrastructure for projects, processes, conferences, and committee support.

SALARY: negotiable from the high 40s; based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental, generous paid vacation and retirement annuity.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field, minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Familiarity with web management software (Drupal), social media tools, online communication platforms (Informz or Mailchimp), experience and interest with social justice frameworks or experience working with diverse communities.
