Description The American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual freedom (OIF) is seeking a full-time Program Officer. We are looking for a curious, tech-savvy information manager and architect to join our team at our Chicago, IL headquarters. Passionate support of intellectual freedom is a requirement.

Reporting to the Director of the Office, the successful candidate will have four main areas of responsibility.

• To provide database management support for the gathering, analysis, and reporting of intellectual freedom challenges reported to the OIF.
• To manage and ensure legal compliance regarding the financial records and transactions of the Freedom to Read Foundation, a separate 501 c3 non-profit organization devoted to the support of free speech, and education about it. The position will also provide some support for financial transactions for OIF.
• To manage the membership functions of the Freedom to Read Foundation, including recruitment, renewals and dues collection, newsletter mailings, donation drives, and attendant record-keeping and reports.
• To support FTRF and OIF in providing the information and logistical infrastructure for projects, processes, conferences, and committee support.

SALARY: negotiable from the high 40s; based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental, generous paid vacation and retirement annuity.
