Description This position serves as the first line of contact for addressing and triaging member/customer questions and problems.

Responsibilities include responding to member, customer and staff inquires quickly and accurately via telephone and email; processing cash and credit card payments for membership, subscriptions and registration in ALA database management system including closing payment batches for processing by accounting.

The senior member/customer service representative assists members with more complex transactions such as setting up payment plans and changing member types This position also performs data entry/data quality assurance checks, assists members with website navigation, and help in the set-up of e-learning courses.

Starting salary range negotiable from the low 30s, based on experience and qualifications. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes flexible work schedules, medical, dental, generous paid vacation and a retirement annuity.

Requirements
• Minimum of 1 -3 years front-line customer service experience, preferably in a membership organization. Some college preferred.
• Advanced customer service skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communications skills, oral and written.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Skills in Access are a plus.
• Experience with a relational database, such as an Association Management System (AMS) necessary.
• Strict attention to detail and top notch organizational skills.
• Problem solving skills, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and the willingness to pitch in to help other team members.
• Must work independently as well as being a team player and remain calm under pressure.
