Description The American Library Association (ALA), a large, information-based professional organization is seeking an experienced Training Specialist for our IT department to support technical training, our growing online continuing education efforts, and our web content managers. This energetic professional will be responsible for:

• Ongoing support of platforms in use (including, but not limited to: Drupal, Online Community Platform (Higher Logic) iMIS, Moodle, and Outlook); providing assistance via TrackIT!, helpdesk@ala.org, and in-person as needed.

• Developing, delivering and maintaining synchronous and asynchronous web-based training courses, activities, and events to meet the needs of ALA staff and member-volunteers using Adobe Captivate, Moodle, Photoshop, and/or other platforms.

• Developing and maintaining training documentation in the Drupal-based support site and in other locations as needed.

• Supporting rollouts with in-person training when required.

• Creating and updating user accounts after training has been completed.

• Providing new hire orientations to introduce staff in the Chicago office and other locations to the systems they need to use.

Salary: negotiable from the mid- 60s, based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental, generous paid vacation and a retirement annuity.

Requirements
The qualified applicant must possess:

• Minimum of five years relevant experience in information technology. Bachelor’s degree – in communications, education, business, human resources, instructional design, social sciences or training and development fields

• Excellent communications skills: The ability to communicate technical topics effectively to non-technical professionals.

• Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design principles. Demonstrated ability in creating web-based learning activities a plus.

• An understanding of web-based course development tools

• Strong project management and teaming skills.

• Strong customer service focus and business insight.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iMIS, Drupal, WordPress or other CMS, Adobe Acrobat, Moodle or other web-based meeting platforms
