Description The American Library Association seeks a Marketing and Sales Manager to develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy for RDA Toolkit (an online subscription website serving library catalogers) and related ancillary products, with the goal of increasing the adoption of Resource: Description and Access (RDA) and the value to its users. This position reports to the Director of Digital Reference, a unit of ALA Publishing.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Meet annual sales and renewal targets by developing and implementing proactive marketing, sales, and renewal plans for the international RDA Toolkit and ancillary products.

• Manage relationships with international distribution partners and consortia to grow sales.

• Write and implement outreach in all channels (e.g, website, emails, announcements) that includes clear, persuasive messaging effectively capturing and promoting benefits, value of renewal, testimonials, and special offers.

• Collect ongoing customer feedback and input in multiple ways. Conduct market research to assure that new products meet expressed content and format needs of customers and prospects. Stay abreast of the needs of catalogers in all regions served by RDA.

• Compile and evaluate usage statistics, sales, and other information to create data-based reports.

• Manage pages and contribute blog posts to the RDA Toolkit marketing site (currently Drupal-based).

• Work with Director on budget planning and progress reports.

• Monitor expiring trials to close sales and build prospect relationships.

• Negotiate pricing within parameters set by Director.

• Provide customer service as necessary.

• Engage with library and information science schools and cataloging and related communities to introduce RDA products and benefits to current and future librarians, as well as those in related fields.

• Represent RDA at conferences, global group meetings, and other events as required (a combination of virtual and face-to-face events).

This is a full-time position with a starting salary negotiable from the mid-50s; based on experience. ALA offers a 35-hour work week, excellent benefit package including low-cost medical/dental insurance, retirement annuity and generous paid vacation.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience:

• Four-year college degree in marketing or related field
• Five to seven years’ total marketing and sales experience. Experience selling and/or marketing in a library or other information science/technical environment preferred.
• Demonstrated record of success in increasing product sales.
• Applied knowledge of marketing analytics and data-driven decision-making.
• Excel, Word, Drupal, and SalesForce.

• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to organize materials and information with attention to detail/ accuracy/ follow-through
